ABOUT US
Sharing our love of traditional Highland piping & drumming for over 60 years
Established in 1963, The Minnesota Pipes and Drums (MNPD) is a nationally recognized competition and performance bagpipe and drum corps based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we perform throughout the year at parades, concerts, and global competitions. We offer lessons to piping and drumming students of all ages and backgrounds, free of charge.
Our mission is to carry on the rich history and heritage of Scottish music by performing for the community and making lessons available to all.

Anyone can learn to play bagpipes or drums
Join us to discover the joy of piping and drumming. We offer instruction free of charge to anyone who wants to learn - people of all backgrounds and levels of experience are welcome to join our free instruction program!
Instruction is provided for the bass, snare, and tenor drums, and of course for the Great Highland bagpipe. Explore the art of Drum Major, or volunteer as color guard (flag bearers) during parades and other events.
The band also accepts new members via audition if you already play.

Your donations help us to be able to provide free bagpipe and drumming lessons to the community, and continue to offer services such as funeral performances for first responders (via our duty band, the Minnesota Police Pipe Band).
